Official Temperature Monitors Report Widescale Global Cooling

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile — the list goes on and on.No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA’s GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here.  The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C — a value large enough to wipe out most of the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year’s time. For all four sources, it’s the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn’t itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.

Let’s hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans — and most of the crops and animals we depend on — prefer a temperature closer to 70.

Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

Well, we have all seen this old song and dance before haven’t we? In the early 90’s the hole in the ozone layer was going to kill us all. All the CFCs in aerosol products were ruining our planet. Now, you never really hear about it that much… wonder why that could be? It was a SCAM just as this Global Warming hoopla is. I love this article and how it proves that this planet is not getting warmer because of humaity’s folleys. In fact, it isnt getting warmer whatsoever. This is the second year in a row we have had substantial snowfall here in Minnesota in the month of April. Now, I am only 22 years old, but in all my life up to last year I dont recall ever getting snow in April. To me it is as if God is simply proving once again how foolish we are to think we understand how this world works.
What is really bothering me now is this; Now that the Global Warming advocates beliefs have been disproven and the climate has NOT infact been warming. They have changed their minds about what exactly IS happening. Now it isn’t so much a warming problem, but a problem of extreme tempertures. Winters will be colder, summers warmer. These people are so clueless they THEMSELVES dont know quite what to believe. But they are perfectly willing to tell everyone else what ‘is’. Makes me sick. I love that this site exists and I hope it will continue to go strong.

    “Global Warming is a FACT.”
Well, that says a lot. What specifically about warming and cooling trends is a problem, though? We don’t dispute that the earth’s average temperature had been going through a slight rise (.05 degrees C) over the past decade or so. The warming trend appears to have stopped and will probably reverse. Incorporating the last two years into the average eliminates the temperature gains entirely.

The earth has warmed and cooled before and will do so again, in all likelihood.
