Global Warming will kill us all, warns Common Core-Aligned Homework

Day-After-TomorrowBy Robby Soave –

Fifth grade students at Fremont Elementary School in Colorado were assigned a reading passage that describes global warming as a dangerous, man-made phenomenon that will destroy civilization in a few hundred years.

The reading assignment was found inside a workbook aligned with the controversial national Common Core curriculum guidelines, and was titled “Homework from the Future.” It tells the fictional story of a visitor to the year 2512 who discovers that the eastern United States is under water and the country’s population greatly reduced, all thanks to man-made global warming:

By the early 21st century, people knew that the massive use of fossil fuels was heating up the planet. But people didn’t stop their destructive lifestyles. They just kept using up Earth’s resources. The ice sheets melted, and Earth’s crust shifted. ..

In 2130. the oceans began to rise over farmland and cities. In 300 years, most of the eastern United States was covered with water.

After reading the text, students were expected to answer several questions, including: “What caused all the problems on Earth?” and “How could the problems have been avoided?”

This is the very essence of fear mongering. But it has been one of the tools used from the very beginning, why stop using it now? It is quite effective.
This does serve to illustrate, however, that the true believers are aggressively forging ahead despite the facts. You know those little silly things that are true, like the global temps have not risen for 15 years, or the ice caps are actually recovering, or as we call “growing”.
Yeah, don’t expect these true believers to go away, or stop. There are psychological principles at work here. Just look at this.

“Festinger and his collaborators, Henry Riecken and Stanley Schachter, examined conditions under which disconfirmation of beliefs leads to increased conviction in such beliefs in the 1956 book When Prophecy Fails. The group studied a small apocalyptic cult led by Dorothy Martin (under the pseudonym Marian Keech in the book), a suburban housewife. Martin claimed to have received messages from “the Guardians,” a group of superior beings from another planet. The messages purportedly said that a flood would destroy the world on December 21. The three psychologists and several more assistants joined the group. The team observed the group firsthand for months before and after the predicted apocalypse. Many of the group members quit their jobs and disposed of their possessions in preparation for the apocalypse. When doomsday came and went, Martin claimed that the world had been spared because of the “force of Good and light” that the group members had spread throughout the world. Rather than abandoning their discredited beliefs, group members adhered to them even more strongly and began proselytizing with fervor.”

Luckily Disney Radio has been including positive “news and education” for fracking via paid for the fracking industry.

    1) Pretty silly. Consider that the worlds climate was much warmer for 7,000 of the last 12,000 years than it is now.

    2) When the earth was about 3-5 F warmer for about 5,000 continuous years, the sea levels were only about 6-8 feet higher than now, making it hard to believe in naturally occurring waves ever crashing on the forearm of the Statue of Liberty.

    3) I am not holding my breath waiting for today’s cadre of Chicken Little Climate Scientists to explain significantly warmer interglacial periods than the current one, or even the significantly warmer periods within this one that may soon be ending (i.e. an Ice Age may actually cometh quite soon).

    4) If I saw “news media” grill the AGW people with some hard science based questions, then it might be possible to quickly debunk the bunk of CO2 science and the ludicrous AGW claims relating thereto. Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of hydrodynamics, botanical biology and astrophysics can do that. The truth is really actually quite obvious to everyone that makes a living from something other than government paid jobs in climate and meteorology.

    5) My own extensive studies show that worry over AGW is a total waste of time. The real concern should be how to keep the earth warmer when the ice age begins.

    6) The earths super-ecosystem is actually always in general balance. A comprehensive alogrythm of ratios for:

[A(m) + B(m)] (i.e. all animal mass plus all botanical mass) = L(m) (or all Living Mass)

    [A(mbr)+ B(mbr) = L(mbr)] where mbr is Metabolic Rate

[A(a:O2):(B(a:CO2] is = Proportional to aggregate tissue mass of living things and aggregate metabolizing energy of all living things.

To make this simple think of it this way. The MASS (i.e. weight) of ALL LIVING TISSUE is quite proportional to the two other aspects of what types of tissues live in the earths aggregated ecosystem and atmosphere. PLANT MASS is incredibly slow metabolizing LIFE and accounts for 99.9999% of all living tissue. Animal life which is proportionally more rapid at metabolizing and producing energy accounts for the net tissue in a direct relationship to its aggregate energy expenditure through movement and metabolizing activities.

Now conversely, the amount of CO2 necessary to feed the incredibly slow CO2 respiration of global cumulative plant tissues performing photosynthesis at any given moment results in an incredibly SMALL amount of free CO2 remaining in the atmosphere, whereas the enormous amount of plant life leaves a 20% free O2 level in the same atmospheric mix, making all cumulative animal life which comprises the tiny fraction of total living tissue successful. These three formulas are in perfect harmony and allow both the enormous volume of plant life (by mass) and incredibly tiny fraction of animal tissue (by mass) to survive in an incredible balancing act within the atmosphere.

The simple balance is maintained in spite of major climate fluctuations that are more commonly far colder than the present interglacial period. Any man-contributed CO2 additions through the burning of fossil fuels are just basically making it possible for even more plants to germinate and live on earth in slightly dryer conditions. Man really CAN’T screw that balance up. Liberals would like to think we are more powerful than we really are. We just aren’t even remotely important as a part of the tiny animal mass when the sum of animal live metabolizing at a given moment is so much larger and quicker at regulating the natural atmosphere and maintaining it in balance. Yes we can pollute it! We can do stupid things like tossing AL2O3 dust up there to stupidly reflect valuable solar energy. But ultimately, we are mostly in a climate that is what it is and balanced as nature would have it balanced. Balanced means over a period of millions of years,

it will usually be significantly colder than right now, and in these relatively brief interglacial periods, it will hopefully be as warm or a little warmer than we are experiencing now (virtually every HONEST study shows that 1-3C warmer is actually better for everyone.
