Global Warming? New Data Shows Ice Is Back

Are the world’s ice caps melting because of climate change, or are the reports just a lot of scare mongering by the advocates of the global warming theory?

Scare mongering appears to be the case, according to reports from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that reveal that almost all the allegedly “lost” ice has come back. A NOAA report shows that ice levels which had shrunk from 5 million square miles in January 2007 to just 1.5 million square miles in October, are almost back to their original levels.

Moreover, a Feb. 18 report in the London Daily Express showed that there is nearly a third more ice in Antarctica than usual, challenging the global warming crusaders and buttressing arguments of skeptics who deny that the world is undergoing global warming.

I would like to suggest our legislators propose a bill to have a 5 year moritorium on passing any new laws or mandates substantiated by the premise global warming is bad and/or it is man made. I feel this would give us time to truly evaluate the situation and make a more knowledgeable decision.

I’ve been all over the NOAA website looking for a report or data indicating that the ice is back. I still find nothing. Phil Brennan fails to site his source in a manner that allows the reader to verify his reporting. Reading that he said that someone else said such-and-such without direct reference to the source is just a waste of what limited time I have to get to the facts. And it leaves me suspicious that he is reporting out of context.

Here’s an excerpt from the London Daily Express article that was cited:

“It was feared that the polar caps were vanishing because of the effects of global warming.

But figures from the respected US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration show that almost all the “lost” ice has come back.

Ice levels which had shrunk from 13 million sq km in January 2007 to just four million in October, are almost back to their original levels.

Figures show that there is nearly a third more ice in Antarctica than is usual for the time of year.” http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/35266/Global-warming-It-s-the-coldest-winter-in-decades

There is a tremendous amount of data available at NOAA, and I don’t know specifically what report the writer was referring to, but this didn’t take long to find: “February 2008 Southern Hemisphere sea ice extent was much above the 1979-2000 mean. This was the second largest sea ice extent in February (27% above the 1979-2000 mean) over the 30-year historical period, behind 2003. Sea ice extent for February has increased at a rate of 3.4%/decade.” http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/2008/feb/global.html

We are starting a massive cool down and the AGW crowd is still insisting the climate is warming. They lost billions of dollars in the carbon credit trade debacle and now are fighting to save their high paying government funded positions. It is all coming down to their lies are being disproved and exposed every day. They will all soon disappear with their cowardly tails between their legs as their corruption becomes more apparent to the public.
