The New Consensus: 100 Percent Of Scientists Agree That Global Warming ‘Stopped’ Or ‘Slowed Down’

Cooling WorldBy: Micheal Bastasch.

The Obama administration and environmental groups have long claimed 97 percent of scientists agree that human activity is causing the Earth to warm, but there’s a new consensus they may be less willing to acknowledge.

Using the same methodology as the vaunted “97 percent” paper by researcher John Cook, two climate scientists have made a bold discovery: virtually all climate scientists agree that global warming has “stopped” or “slowed down” in recent years.

“We didn’t find a single paper on the topic that argued the rate of global warming has not slowed (or even stopped) in recent years,” wrote scientists Patrick Michaels and Chip Knappenberger with the libertarian Cato Institute.

“This is in direct opposition to the IPCC’s contention that global warming is accelerating, and supports arguments that the amount of warming that will occur over the remainder of the 21st century as a result of human fossil fuel usage will be at the low end of the IPCC projections, or even lower,” the two scientists added. “Low-end warming yields low-end impacts.”

The slowdown in warming is due to reduced economic activity as a result of the recession. ;s

Wow, really? Crickets? I know it’s kind of a trap. If you argue against this then it makes the case against Cook pretty solid, because they used the same methodology for this that Cook did. And if you argue for it, it means that there is no global warming.
So, if this is a fraud then Cook is a fraud. And, if this is not a fraud then AGW is completely toast. That’s a win-win for me. No wonder I get silence for this one. 🙂

Cook’s paper has reviewed 11,944 papers. From those he found 32%, about 3,893 papers endorsing global warming, and about .07% (83 papers) rejecting global warming. He did this by looking at papers with keywords “global warming” and “global climate change”, albeit a bias search.

Patrick Michaels and Chip Knappenberger found 100 papers by looking for papers with keywords “slowdown”, “global”, “temperature”, etc. and found all of the 100 papers denying global warming.

I can agree with you that we have two similar studies coming to very different results. So let’s use the data and learn something instead of pretending that the two studies cancel each other. Together, the two studies found 3,893 papers endorsing global warming, and 183 denying it. I’m not a scientist but… that’s over 95%.
