Hmmm, extreme weather and temperatures. I know that’s not “global warming” but it does bring to mind that other much maligned climate change thingy. Just sayin’. Oh wait… that’s a hoax too?! Silly ol’ me.
What are you talking about? The theory states that CO2 is supposed to cause catastrophic warming. It wasn’t until it was obviously not causing warming that they started to use terms like “climate change”, and “global climate disruption”. Now, whenever there is any kind of condition that is not “normal” it’s blamed on CO2! Even though, originally, AGW theory did not predict extreme weather, or low temperature extremes. It predicted warming. Period.
It was actually pretty clever labeling it “climate change”, because the climate is always changing. So whenever it does change it’s blamed on CO2. How convenient!
First things first, you need to know what the definition of “Theory” in the scientific community is. Theory means an explanation that accounts for currently known facts that is verified by extensive data and experimentation. Theory is never upgraded to another word it is the top (fact). Second there is also a difference between “weather” and “climate”
You said “Climate is always changing” you are wrong. Weather is the day to day meteorological changes that you experience (weather= it is raining right now) climate is an pattern in weather that is region specific and is based off of data collected over long periods of time (im going to a warmer climate for vacation). So weather is like a minute, whereas climate is the day. Therefore if for one minute in the morning the temperature is 36 degrees and the rest of the day it is 90 degrees you cannot say that it was cold all day. Now, in order to understand anything about global climate change you have to get away from the dumbed down facts that have been presented on the news for people that dont know anything about weather. The average weather patterns (climate) in one region directly affects the climate in another. (look up rain shadow effect) So if it is getting warmer along the equator the different climate zones will be pushed farther north, the change in temperature will react to the regions specific landscape (for example if the region is located next to the ocean oceanic currents will cause micro climates on the coast) so the result of CO2 emissions trapping solar energy is warming parts of the earth, and while those parts are warmed other places are seeing monumental storms (Katrina, Tsunamis, blizzards) that are more severe that in the past. next time do a little homework before you spout your mouth off at something you dont know anything about. The “anti climate change group” have something to lose when the science meets policy, their factories will have to stop producing carbon emissions it will cost them money.
That’s not how I recall “early” AGW theories, yes the emphasis was on warming, as an overall problem, but not the only one. But select your memories as you always do, I can’t stop you. I have posted some disturbing things about methane, which has always been part of the mix, as it were, but I’m sure you will weasel around that and focus on your first love, CO2.
Ok, so I should have said global warming with an (*), instead of a (.). We’re both kind of, sort of right. Part of the theory was changing weather patterns, and changes in precipitation patterns due to warming caused by Man. So that is where you are kind of, sort of right. But, I said:

Which is where I am kind of, sort of right, because those things were incorporated into the theory only after they began to occur. You’ve got to admit that low temperature extremes were never predicted by the AGW theory, and extreme weather can happen anywhere with or without AGW.
Gotta love postdictions, where you claim prediction after the fact.
Well we are at nitpicking stage here once again- but yes I do recall extreme cold temps for parts of or most of Europe being part of the predictions. But that is just my memory. Also, even the US military (all branches), and many others I’m sure around the world, are incorporating extreme weather scenarios into their planning for “defense” for future problems. It is not something I ever would have envisioned for our military minds to bother with or worry about. The data that you ignore or dismiss here is being scrutinized very carefully by them, including of course peak oil issues. We really have no military without oil, thus W’s ruinous wars of choice. We civilians could get along pretty well with alternatives and such, but not the military. Thus will be our downfall, as the world’s policeman and chief warmonger.
I think people van just get confused about the difference between climate change and global warming. Climate change is any change in climate (thus the name) and can be anything from cooling to warming periods or changes in weather patterns etc. Global warming is a type of climate change that describes the earth’s current warming patterns. While most people think that Global warming means just that everything will get warmer, it is not entirely so. It’s a lot about extremes. with the current unbalance in the world and atmosphere, it causes more extreme weather patterns. increased or decreased rainfall (e.g. the floods in CO), droughts, increased and harsher storms (e.g. Sandy and Katrina), and extreme cold in areas you wouldn’t expect. So, the term “Global Warming” can be misleading, making people believe that it is only warming going on when the better term would be “climate change”
The only constant about climate is that it changes. Since as CO2 levels have risen, global average temperatures have stayed flat over the past 15 years, prove to me that modern warming and cooling cycles are man-made, but warming and cooling cycles that brought about and eradicated ice ages thousands of years ago were not.

You keep stating the “fact” that global temps have not risen over the past 15 years when, actually, they have. The 11 warmest years on record have been in the last 12, and although the temp climb has slowed (not stopped), it is still on the rise and there is lots of evidence stating it manmade.
Yes, there have been cooling and warming cycles, the one we are experiencing now has happened far to quickly to be anything BUT manmade. Most climate systems have happened over hundreds or thousands of years but this one has started to rise exponentially since the beginning of the 20th century, which is probably around a day in earth’s lifetime (I don’t want to start arguing the age of the earth I’m just stating what I think is true).
