NASA Data Worse Than Climate-Gate Data, Space Agency Admits

By Blake Snow

NASA was able to put a man on the moon, but the space agency can’t tell you what the temperature was when it did. By its own admission, NASA’s temperature records are in even worse shape than the besmirched Climate-gate data.

E-mail messages obtained by a Freedom of Information Act request reveal that NASA concluded that its own climate findings were inferior to those maintained by both the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) — the scandalized source of the leaked Climate-gate e-mails — and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climatic Data Center.

The e-mails from 2007 reveal that when a USA Today reporter asked if NASA’s data “was more accurate” than other climate-change data sets, NASA’s Dr. Reto A. Ruedy replied with an unequivocal no. He said “the National Climatic Data Center’s procedure of only using the best stations is more accurate,” admitting that some of his own procedures led to less accurate readings.

I think we (meaning the evil “deniers””) have been saying that for a long time. The data is flawed, but yet we are still the “ignorant” ones. How can anyone arrive at this conclusion? This just blows my mind. It is not about the weather at all. It is a money grab. Clear as a bell.

    No mention of James Hansen?

  3. Rob N. Hood April 1, 2010 at 6:53 am #

Even a broken clock… etc. First March in MN recorded history w/o snow….

  4. Dan April 1, 2010 at 8:16 am #

That’s nonsense. Minnesota got lots of snow in March. If you live in Minneapolis/St. Paul, you got lucky, because it missed us.

Ummm, wrong again Dan. NONE, ZIP… NADA.

      I’ts in the record books.

Oh yeah, I forgot you guys don’t like fancy things like records, and books. Such nonsense!

NASA, Smithsonian Institution, National Geographic, Hollywood, and many other “symbols” of USA are still working by the naive patriotism and the good will of many millions of Americans donors, but these symbols are today overcharged with leftsit political agendas. If I will be at the Congress I will start talking about the social value of all these mediocre institutions. You can’t believe that the NASA of 1969 is the same today. Look the articles at National Geographic, more militant that at the New York Times.

  6. Rob N. Hood April 1, 2010 at 11:47 am #

No- I live in Northern MN Sorry about that “theory” of yours. It could be that the news about it is based upon the Twin Cities area, but even if that is so, it is still a significant broken record, doncha know.

Maybe you should actually live in this country a little while, at least, until you become and expert on it… like a day or two anyway.

  12. paul wenum April 2, 2010 at 9:15 pm #

Have no idea what I just read. What? Must have been April fools.?

I retired. Let’s get back to the case at hand. Defeating Cap N Trade! Joking around is fun, however, our economy and lifestyle is more important. Don’t you agree???

  18. Cubanshamoo April 6, 2010 at 1:32 am #

Yes, I agree, and I will make my part buying a nice wonderfull piece of land with its forest inside!!!! I am close to closing the deal.

  19. Rob N. Hood April 6, 2010 at 8:12 am #

Another wealthy land owner, with apparently little to worry about. Other than paying his fair share of taxes. Must be nice.

  20. Paul Wenum April 6, 2010 at 7:33 pm #

Oh, he will pay his “Fair Share.” and then some! When Obama starts the VAT, Value added tax, which I predict is coming soon, we will all be paying more than our “Fair Share.” Rob, add another 16-20% tax onto what you are now paying over and above Federal/State/Local/sales tax/gas tax etc. Only then when it hits your pocket will you see the light. You may well have to get a third job for which I hope you do not have to my friend. It’s hard enough making a living today with two income families which is the norm. It’s coming. Start cutting back when it does. By the way I never shop without a coupon. Save $200.00 on basic staples. Wish more Americans did. Of course the people that are “entitled” never seem to have a coupon at the checkout counter. Wonder why?

  21. Rob N. Hood April 7, 2010 at 7:31 am #

Yes, Paul taxes will go up. They must to to pay for our two unending and mind-blowing expensive wars and all the military bases around the globe. Reaganomics and the disaterous reign of Bush II left us in this mess.

  22. paul wenum April 7, 2010 at 10:37 pm #

A little known fact that most don’t talk about. Wars help the economy. Look at what got us out of the Depression. It wasn’t FDR, it was the ramping up for WWII. Not that I believe in war, I detest it. That is always the last course of action in any situation. Blame whomever you want. Bottom line, you , I as well as other American’s will pay for the 545 people that vote and decide our future. Hope you know what 545 means. If not, you are “Dumber than gore.” Your quote.

    • Dan McGrath April 7, 2010 at 10:44 pm #

Actually, I think that’s pretty well known. The problem is that it’s not sustainable. The economic boost is usually built on credit and the money has to be paid back. War can produce a temporary economic boost, but as along term economic strategy, it’s pretty shaky.

  23. Rob N. Hood April 8, 2010 at 7:11 am #

Thank you Dan for a little bit of sanity in a sea of scary insanity !

  24. paul wenum April 9, 2010 at 10:21 pm #

Unfortuntely, credit is not available to small, mediam size business’s. 52% increase in commercial bankruptcies from last year. Now Cap N Trad upcoming, Heathcare changes, etc. that will put an untold burden on all companies as we attempt to get out of the worst economy I have seen in 50 years. Let’s put sanity where it belongs. Job creation, absent Healthcare (Obamacare). Yes, there must be adjustments, purchase insurance across state lines for one, and the end of Cap N Trade which in my own opinion, will bury our fragile economy as it exists today. Enough said.

Oh what a nice simple world you live in… good night John-boy.

  26. paul wenum April 18, 2010 at 10:09 pm #

By your comments I can tell you are a boy. When you eventually grow up without chastising everyone that disagrees with you may you eventually find people that will wish to actually talk with you not “at you.” There is a difference my very young friend.

  27. Rob N. Hood April 20, 2010 at 10:43 am #

You don’t chastise everyone who disagrees with you on this site? Yes you do. What does that make you somehow, by magic, a grown-up?

  28. paul wenum April 20, 2010 at 10:16 pm #

I have an AARP Card. Do you?

  29. Rob N. Hood April 21, 2010 at 2:33 pm #

OOOOHHHH !!!!!!!!! It’s the AARP card that makes you grown up… I get it now!!!!!!!!!!
