Lord Lawson Calls For Public Inquiry Into CRU Data Affair

nigel_lawson_319374aBy Benny Peiser

In response to recent revelations contained in leaked e-mails originating from the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, Lord Lawson, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the GWPF, has called for a rigorous and independent inquiry into the matter. While reserving judgment on the contents of the e-mails, Lord Lawson said these are very serious issues and allegations that reach to the heart of scientific integrity and credibility:

“Astonishingly, what appears, at least at first blush, to have emerged is that (a) the scientists have been manipulating the raw temperature figures to show a relentlessly rising global warming trend; (b) they have consistently refused outsiders access to the raw data; (c) the scientists have been trying to avoid freedom of information requests; and (d) they have been discussing ways to prevent papers by dissenting scientists being published in learned journals.”

Add Sen. Inhofe to the list.

“The publication of more than 1,000 private e-mails that climate change skeptics say proves the threat is exaggerated has prompted one key Republican senator to call for an investigation into their research.”

I just saw where the New York Times will not run this. Wonder why??? If it was sensitive CIA briefings I’m sure that they would be printed. And people still fail to believe that there is a left wing media? God help us all. Better start saving now so we can exist just a few years from now after the taxes kick-in.

Yeah, they’ll publish the Pentagon papers, but not this! No suprise though, they are complicit in the global climate scam.

OT but we are going into meltdown mode in politics over here in Australia. Extraordinary scenes as the leader of the opposition walks out, then claims victory for the ETS despite not having it. Looks like Turnbull wont last the week and I would say K Rudd is next in line.

Sen. Inhofe isn’t the only one looking into this.

Obama’s science czar Holdren is implicated in the emails.

I have seen nothing of any substance in the MSM that says anything. If anything, excuses but no condemnation. No Gore interview? What does he think about it? No investigation by CBS? Where’s the “Peabody”? I quess investigative journalism is gone and my daughter’s Degree is in journalism!! Must have a deep discussion with her shortly. Nothing has changed. When this administration passes Cap N Trade, Health care etc. and the true American sees the cause and effect to their bottom line, they will then wake up. Unfortunately, by then it will be to late.

    • Neil F. AGWD/BSD November 26, 2009 at 3:05 am #

Paul, why would the MSM do any investigation? They are complicit. They would have to investigate theirselves! They will spin it as best they can because they need to perpetuate the lies. They themselves have made up most of them.

Same old paranoiacs. Broaden your thinking, then maybe you will begin to see the light.

From the way they worked so hard to hide the data from other scientists, robbie, I’d have to say you are correct about the global-warming crowd.

  8. Rob N. Hood November 28, 2009 at 10:21 am #

Not sure what you mean, Otter. The hacked emails are an interesting development, and needs to be investigated thoroughly obviously. I suspect that is has more to do with “normal” scientific back-stabbing and the pressures to succeed than some kind of global conspiracy. You see, that is the main reason I have not succumbed to the deniers on this, yet. It would have to have been, and continue to be, such a huge world wide conspriacy that it doesn’t add up logically. Do I believe in other “conspiracies”? Yes I do, but only from a logical and reasoned perspective.

Do the emails prove the deniers are right? Not yet it doesn’t. Do I trust the MSM? No I don’t.

Records disappearing, like Rose Woods 18 minutes for Nixon which if you think about is chump change to what we are witnessing on climategate. You thought Watergate was bad, how does this affect American if Cap N Trade passed without any inquiry by the proper unbiased authorities???? Woodward & Bernstein would have been chomping at the bit to get on this story. Unfortunately that was years ago when real print media had a conscience. No longer I’m afraid. To my chagrin, it will pass and then years from now when everyone complains, we can always tell our grand children that at least we tried. Unfortunately, it will be to late. Enough said.

Otter I think you meant to say I’m incorrect. What I am trying to get people to understand is that this is just another example of modern Capitalism and NOT just politics. It seems these guys just complain when it’s a Liberal who is getting rich. They don’t seem to mind at all when it’s a Regressive/Repub/Conservative who does it. That’s hypocrisy and I hate that.

Politics in this country is broken too. Why? Becuase of the power of money over We the People, that’s why. and why it is so difficult, if not impossible, to make extreme Rightists see that is still a mystery to me.

What is “Right or Wrong.?’ Left or right?? Please explain. You seem to box people. People I know Think! Think about it and quit putting people in a box!

  12. Rob N. Hood December 8, 2009 at 10:13 am #

Are you trying to put me in a box Paul? Sure seems like it.

  13. paul wenum December 13, 2009 at 1:50 am #

You have boxed yourself in. Get out and think by yourself for once. Quit the script.
