It wasn’t so long ago that Russia and the USA had nuclear weapons of mass destruction and would have had no problem in using them. Now all of a sudden they want to save the planet from the it’s climate and it just so happens that the ordinary fools that pay their taxes are to blame and must pay the price.

I love this site; I would call myself a doubter and insist that I exercise my democratic right to question.
When any party get personal they have lost the argument and no one will take them seriously.
This winter was good for a few reasons; my milk froze on the door step, the ice popped out of the top telling me that ice has a greater mass than water. When it melted there was room in the bottle.
How can it be then that if/when the ice cap melts we can expect umpteen feet of sea level rise? I know, I know one is a land mass the other is a great big iceberg 4.5 km deep.
The doubt still exists. I read that they are drilling into the ice cap to determine what happened last time the ice cap melted.
What I want to know is did an extension at Heathrow cause it?
Or was it the aircraft circling for hours waiting for a slot that caused it?
Still, my kids built a snowman, after all the snow had disappeared the bulk of the snowman was still there melting slowly. As it got smaller I observed that the rate of melting accelerated. Does this sound familiar?
The glaciers have been melting for millions of years, as their mass becomes smaller their
ability to preserve its own temperature must surely diminish.

To all those who on here who are called alarmists, I prefer carers, have the bravery to ask
questions before insisting that you want to change my lifestyle.

We are in total accord. They will/may finally understand when it affects them. That said, it may be to late. As stated, there is “natural” warming and cooling since the beginning of time. I’m an old outdoors guy and have seen it for years. My father was an aeronautical engineer and always stressed to us to believe 50% of what you read and 10% of what you hear. He always stressed that we always “fly speck” the facts, don’t base opinions on emotion. “Facts don’t lie, people do.” We were taught NOT to be lemmings, as posted before me. Later.

That is about the most illogical argument I have ever heard. For crying out loud, using your own logic you can say the same thing about the two “proofs of global warming” that you have presented.
What you are giving us here is what is known as a circular argument. In other words, you are the intellectual equivalent to a dog chasing its own tail.
I would also like to know what you think a lemming is? Because it is the majority of people who are “walking over the cliff” when it comes to global warming. The minority are the ones who stop and question the validity of the AGW alarmists claims, not the other way around. And there is a growing mountain of evidence that the alarmists are wrong, that their predictions are false, and that their data is flawed.
Here are some questions you should be asking.

A: The alarmists said the polar ice caps will melt at an alarming rate, why have they not been melting, and in fact have more ice this year than last?

B: The alarmists say that when CO2 rises the temperatures will rise too, why have temperatures been going lower the last ten years even though CO2 has steadily increased?
And.

C: Why do I trust Al Gore?

I’m just saying that they won’t debate. I, like you, wish they would. But I think they already know what the truth is….. it just doesn’t fit their agenda. in 1969 , the day after neil armstrong walked on the moon, it began to rain in southern new jersey.. and it rained for weeks.. virtually everyone there was convinced that people walking on the moon (for those of you who believe that) somehow interfered with the weather.. but as we know, it wasn’t raining everywhere that week..So while it is easy to find coincindinces of cold weather at inopportune times, I suggest you talk to somone who lives in southern Australia .They are experiencing their hottest and driest summer on record. And while the “lemmings” are pointing at an inconvient snow storm as “proof” in what they believe, the Australians sweat it out.. Wonder why the global warming deneyers are not convinced at the “proof” offered up by hurricanes–the 2008 season had a number of records broken for major hurricanes..

Neil, checked your links. Been there done that. You and I both agree. Unfortunately, nobody (with any unbiased thinking) reads anymore. “Lemmings” I say. Again, let the public, (which I have my doubts reads other than People magazine), understand the seriousness of the consequences when Al Gore, Hansen et al, are proven wrong. I sincerely believe that it may be to late! I hope that I’m proven wrong.

As you can see I am not incapable of research. As a matter of fact, I believe what I believe as a direct result of research. And to boil down what I have learned from my research is that people who believe in AGW put all of their trust into the IPCC, James Hansen, and Al Gore. And all of their predictions come from computer climate modeling, and fudged weather station data.

Let’s cut to the case. The American people need a national televised debate by both sides on this global warming/cooling issue. We can sit and discuss the issue until we are blue in the face. Fact is, no debates have happened even though the offers have been made and only one side is being heard.
I say, get the 650+ climatologists that say it is a natural occurance debate Al Gore’s group that say we are the problem. Not on cable, but regular TV, Prime Time. Only then will the American public get informed on what we may or may not be facing. Screaming at each other here makes no sense. I say, “Bring it on and let the debates begin!” That said, Being the realist that I am, I highly doubt that it will ever happen, or will it? I hope I’m proven wrong. Quit the bickering and do some research! Remember, Ignorance is that you simply don’t know, stupidity is that no matter what, you will never understand.

Sunsettommy: We’ll have to agree to disagree on these points. I, like you, am a layperson and, after a very short period that I bought into AGW, did some digging and found a large volume of facts and data that refuted it. You’re right, it wasn’t hard.
I don’t want to argue about this with you because we are on the same side. And calling people stupid is not a persuasive argument. Please don’t lower yourself down to Notasuckerlikeyou’s or Rob N. Hood’s level (I have a suspicion that they are the same person).
I think facts and data are enough to win the argument. Just look how Notasuckerlikeyou has reacted.
